“In 2010 I commissioned David to run a training programme of presentational skills for Inspire! staff in order to increase their confidence, impact and influence when speaking in public.
The programme was extremely well constructed, tailored to our needs, lasted a whole day and, as one might expect from an experienced actor, focused on physiological aspects of presentation. There was some behavioural analysis which ensured a degree of personalisation and allowed for a wide variety of body language and voice styles.
The feedback from staff was overwhelmingly positive and very enthusiastic: all found the experience of tremendous value. It was described as “fascinating”, “great fun”, “behaviour changing” and “immensely helpful”.
Early this year, with a number of additional staff, I asked David to run two more sessions on presentational skills. Their impact was equally profound. Using the lessons learned from the training day, for example, one member of staff was asked to make a formal presentation to our staff and trustees at a strategic planning away day. The impact was very significant: she was terrific.
Having experienced the quality and relevance of the presentational training, I have now asked David to deliver some networking training for staff and further assist us in incorporating networking techniques into some of the programmes that we deliver to young people in schools. We are all very excited by the potential offered by this training.
Over the years I have participated in many training programmes and met many outstanding trainers. Few, however, can match David.”
David Blagrough, Inspire Education Business Partnership for Hackney
“David has a knack for helping people conquer their nerves and building their confidence with breathing and posture techniques, which massively improved the performance of staff whether they were at a pitch meeting or sitting down client-handling over the phone.
David’s insight into how suited certain individuals were for specific types of communication became a useful factor in working out who should progress into client handling, staff management and new business roles within the business.
Personal communication skills are extremely important in the creative industries which is all about explaining and developing visual concepts, often to people who aren’t naturally inclined to get excited about typefaces or colour palettes, David’s work was invaluable and became a fixed budget item for the business for the last seven years.”

“David is a business coach of great insight who rapidly identifies any thought processes or mannerisms that may be holding you back – and gives you the strategies to overcome them. In my two sessions with David, I come away on both occasions understanding how I come across to others much better – and with the tools I needed to improve my public appearances.”
Tanith Carey, Author and Journalist
“We invited David to spend 80 minutes which small groups of our 2nd year acting course. This was part of our weekly sessions with them to explore the real world, outside the bubble of drama schools. We look with them at tax, getting an agent, making your own work, and the dreaded word “networking” which seems to strike fear into every actor. Walk into the room as Hamlet and you’re fine. Walk into an agent’s office as yourself, and it all fall apart. David brought his skilled knowledge and facilitation of NLP techniques to help our aspiring professional actors the chance to know a little more about themselves, and how you can shift your own way of thinking and presenting yourself, to make the agent or person you are meeting more attuned to you and more interested in you. Bringing his background as an actor, and someone who regularly trains and works with actors, helped to make our students feel comfortable as they put themselves through a series of exercises. I hope we will be able to bring David back for more sessions, and to help each and every actor be prepared for the real world.”
Chris Grady, Industry Liason at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts
“David is the kind of coach who manages to inspire an immediate sense of trust in a client. He is engaging and extremely perceptive, and also very inspiring. He shows genuine interest, and has a way of facilitating great insights very quickly and effectively.
As someone who has tried NLP and coaching before, I am extremely impressed with David’s approach, and am looking forward to continuing our working relationship.”
